For the past few weeks I've been going through and watching the old VW Drivers Wanted work. Its easy to forget what a great brand it used to be. But its even easier to forget just how fast technology has changed things in the very recent past. The Da-Da-Da ad, something that feels like it was relatively recent in the grand scheme of things, signs off with this screen:
The idea of signing off a brand ad with an 800 number seems so arcane now … almost laughably arcane, but it was just 10 years ago that it was right with the times. I wonder what they had on the other end of that. Operators? Dealer phone numbers? Content?
Anyways, take a look at the old stuff on Adcritic if you can. It's really, really good. I miss it.
